Feeling royal

Royal blue that is! I originally wanted to wear these gray pin stripe pants with mustard yellow. I realized this morning that the only office appropriate yellow top I had in my closet was a knit cardigan. I'll move that outfit idea in the fall! So I went with royal blue instead. These shoes are by Jessica Simpson and was on sale at Nordstrom rack for $26 (Original price - $69.99)! The kind of deals that I like!

I watched bits and pieces of the royal wedding this morning. I thought it was nice and simple. Just like this outfit (no fancy hat required).

Bad hair days

Despite the gorgeous weather today, my hair was simply unmanageable! I was too lazy to spend any more extra effort on it. Solution? Wear a hat! I thought I'd wear it with my closet item - this white Zara dress. There is always something about white that makes you feel like a fresh spring breeze! And speaking of Zara, I went to pay her a visit this afternoon. She was after all near my errand destination. For some reason, my hair in the fitting room looked nice! I think those mirrors trick you into looking good no matter what you wear - be it your messy hair or the nice trench coat! Did I mention I've been looking for the perfect one for a long time now?? Sigh!

A change in dates

About 2 years ago, when I take off from work, I either do absolutely nothing or go malling. In other words I have a date with myself. When we stay home, we become a couch potato with a pint of ice cream. If we decide to go to the mall, we end up with at least one shopping bag and a tummy full of Auntie Anne's pretzel.

These days, when I take off work, I go on play dates. It was perfect weather to get out of the house with the little one. So I decided to wear this top with shorts to visit with Sophia's little friends. We went home with a full tummy of yummy home cooked food and a brownie. Well.. my tummy.

Laziness and patterns

A friend of mine just moved here from halfway around the world and needed to get some furniture. Being the newbie in town, I accompanied her to Ikea - the ultimate furniture shopping place! Not to mention that they have free organic baby food and free diapers in the changing areas! Can't beat that. Oh and they have cheap yummy food too!

So I was lazy to dress up and used this 3/4 sleeve striped shirt. Who dresses up to go to Ikea anyway? Although I have seen women walking around in there in 3 in heels. Eek! Nope not me... I'm a flats girl on  occasions that require 98% walking!

I really didn't need anything at Ikea so the little girl and I just wandered around. I was amused by all the patterns and colors so I played with my camera instead.

A polka dot Easter

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend! Yesterday's closet item was this sheer polka dot blouse from Papaya. There were only two left of this top in the store AND it was only $16.99!

Would you believe that these shoes are by Dr. Scholl's? "Comfortable footwear" sure has come a long way. These are indeed very comfortable but the straps are tight on top... If someone told me that your feet will expand after pregnancy, I would have gotten a half size bigger. But that was about three years ago... oh well!

Neutrals are in as well this Spring so I paired the top with khaki pants. I haven't worn these in a long time mainly because it is a bit loose on me. It is a size small but for some reason even the belt is not cutting it. Either Zara made a sizing mistake on this one, the belt needs another hole or I lost weight. I'll go for the latter!

In living color

I am loving all the colors this Spring and I saw this tank last week for $19.99 - right at my budget! Perfect! I was inspired by all the colors at the store paired with white so I came up with this for the office yesterday. It was 92F outside but 80F inside the building so the light jacket didn't make me feel too warm! Phew!

Funny mommy

Whenever I take my outfit photos in my studio I noticed that my daughter laughs at me at the very click of the camera. I am laughing at me too so why shouldn't she?? She's probably saying "what in the world is my mommy doing?!"

So today I decided to try some self portraits... out in the backyard... while she is napping. This will be my new backdrop. There, no more laughing at mommy. Except now my neighbors puppy is right behind that fence barking at me!

Blouse: thrifted (the back is lace that goes all the way down where the design starts again but I am wearing a black tank underneath so it doesn't show here)

Paisleys and flowers

The closet item for last nights dinner is this chiffon paisley and flower print dress. The hubby wanted to eat out on very short notice so excuse the messy hair... there was no time to fix it... but who cares... we had very hungry stomachs to cater to.

After dinner, I coerced the hubby into taking some outdoor pictures of my outfit for a change. The three photos below have a creamy effect - the background is more clear than the subject - in other words they are a bit blurry.

After figuring out that it was indeed partly my fault that caused the blurry photos, I set the camera to a much better setting and viola a nice, crisp, clear photo! I still think the hubby did a good job!

Bloggers Do It Better

Today I found Kristina's wonderful blog and decided to join her Bloggers Do It Better series (hence the new badge on the left there). I think it will be great to interpret a phrase through clothing... I have a feeling I will be using items in my closet I have not used in a very long time... and THAT will be a good thing!

Her first assignment is the popular color blocking trend this Spring. And since I have been on color blocking mode since Friday I thought it was a perfect time to join (and a perfect time to have found her post)!

Sunny day

It was 90F today! Isn't it supposed to be Spring?? The hubby, myself and our little munchkin will be traveling overseas in less than 2 months. I can't wait to play with the little one on the soft white sands and just listen to splashing waves. The last time I saw the beach was four years ago!

I felt really sunny today and am still in the color blocking mood so decided to wear these green bermuda shorts. Wore it with my matching yellow sandals and belt and a cotton white tee. The green and yellow is making me want a Matcha Freeze!!!
