BDIB: Animal Instincts

This week's challenge over at BDIB is to sport animal prints. I decided to use this scarf I found at Ross a few months ago for $5. The brand name is Larioseta and it's made in Italy. Can't beat that for the price and quality. I knew I would use this scarf A LOT this Fall and this challenge is the perfect excuse to break it in (even though it's still in the upper 80's in  Texas!) :)

Playing dress-up: Prep school style

The new challenge for the Bloggers Do it Better series is the All-American look of menswear-prep. When I found out it was going to be about prep school style I was absolutely clueless! First off, my husband's neckties are way too colorful and none of them matched anything I had. So I knew it was going to be difficult.

I worked around the necktie that I thought would be the easiest to dress with. So I came up with this. Problem is it's 85F outside. There was no way I could have done my errands in a sweater with an additional two layers underneath it. I participated anyway for the fun of it. I'm definitely doing this outfit in the Fall.

Florals

Please excuse this wrinkled dress. I hate ironing. My husband hates that I hate ironing. I only iron on occasions that I absolutely need to. Like a formal dinner or a job interview. But on a regular day like today, with a toddler in tow, I leave it as it is. It will eventually get wrinkled anyway.

This month's challenge over at Everybody, Everywear is florals. I've had this dress shirt for over 5 years and the number of times I've worn it can be counted. I never let go of it though. There is something about it that just keeps earning its place in my closet.

White Out

The challenge for this week's Bloggers Do It Better series is spring's all-white ("White Out") trend. I took part in this trend on this post but wanted to come up with another outfit for the challenge. I didn't know how difficult it would be until I gathered all my white clothes together and couldn't come up with one single outfit! So this morning, without looking, I grabbed one white clothing from the pile and decided to just work with that.

Today was in the low 70s (at least until about 2pm) so it was perfect to wear this light trench coat. At about 5pm, at 84 degrees, I had to drive back home without the jacket!

Color block

So color blocking it is! I decided to give it a shot today. While looking for something bold and bright, I just realized that I really don't have much color in my trouser section. I have a lot of blacks and grays and whites and browns... bleh... I have a pair of red pants and a bright pink 3/4 sleeve sweater (although not quite fuchsia - plus it's cashmere, who would want to wear cashmere in 85F Texas weather?!)... so I passed on that outfit idea...

But I do have this colorful dress! It's too short for the office so I wore my red pants with it and threw in this sweater. Why not? The dress pulled the colors together. I think I was the brightest person at the office today! No pun intended! :)
